Pioneer DV-454 (and possibly DV-350) Region Hack for Psion Revo

Update 26th Jan 2003 - I've also now had a report that the program works on the Psion 5MX. Position of the infrared port is important, it needs to be less than 1 inch from the infrared port on the player for the signal to be read correctly.
Update 9th Jan 2003 - I've had a report that the program has worked on someone else's Revo + DV-454 first time, which is good news! Unfortunately it does not appear to work with the Psion 5 as it is unable to communicate with the infrared port on the device.
Update 7th Jan 2003 - I've now tested this on a DV-454 player and after a few adjustments to the code it worked! You need to place the back of the Revo about 1 inch from the Infrared port on the player (left hand side of the display panel). Also make sure you don't have a disk in the player at the time. The player should display 'OFF', and turn off if the code has worked. If not just try running the program again.

This program should send the correct infrared code sequence to the Pioneer DV-454 DVD Player to make it region free.

The program is designed to work on the Psion Revo and Revo+, although it may also work on the Diamond Mako (but I haven't tested it on either).

There is no install package for the program, you just need to copy it onto your Psion using the PSIWin software.

Download DV454IRHack.zip - Unzip the file and copy the DV454IRHack.opo onto your Revo using the PsiWin software.
You will also require two .OPX packages, available from Keith Walker's site, these are:
CComms-sis.zip - Unzip the file and run the .sis file to install it onto your Psion
CDescriptor-sis.zip - Unzip the file and run the .sis file to install it onto your Psion

Once you have done the above, you should just be able just double 'click' the DV454IRHack.opo program. Point the back of your Psion at your Pioneer DVD Player's infrared port and press any key to transmit the infrared code sequence. It may take several tries until this works (some people have reported up to 50!), just keep re-running the program to send the IR sequence again.

If you have problems getting the program to work, try disabling the 'Remote Link' from the 'Today' control panel.
